The Old Trout Bassendean

Ordered grilled fish, chips, a couple of dim sims and a spring roll tonight. Been here a few times before; probably a few years since last came, so maybe should have made some enquiries before ordering. The spring roll was beautiful as always, the dim sims were large and tasty - I'm pretty sure they make all their own. However when it came to the fish and the chips they were a let down. The grilled fish, once upon a time, came seasoned with salt and pepper and grilled to a tasty perfection. Tonight's offering was so thickly floured, that we thought they had battered it and so sent it back. We called ahead and said that it appeared they had battered the grilled fish, and could they make it again, this time without the batter. The problem, being that we have gluten intolerant people in the family, who are generally fine with grilled fish. When the fish was done again in the same thickly floured "grilled" fashion and I questioned it with the annoyed lady who answered the phone, I was told "I'm sorry, you didn't like it." When asked if we could have a refund as we couldn't eat the fish, the response was "No, we won't refund just because you don't like it." Not so flash on the customer service there, was once a favourite, but now will avoid. They obviously can't make grilled fish properly anymore so will be looking elsewhere.
